Work had become an integral part of her persona lately. She had devoted herself to it, perhaps been consumed by it. But such was its nature when you worked for the greater good, for the improvement of The League so that it might stand against all those who dare threaten Hoenn.

She would’ve still been working if it hadn’t been for one of her Pokémon deciding that she needed a break. With access to the internet and her credit card details, her Porygon-Z had signed her up for a Remote Island challenge.

Alas, she realized it far too late. She could no longer back out. And that’s how she found herself here, standing upon an island dressed casually for once. By her side, a Golett stood wearing a small top hat and Monocle, though how the latter stayed on, even she was unsure about.

But she wasn’t alone. There was another person here for the experiment. A woman, a rather attractive one from what she could see, and that was quite a lot given how she had begun to undress until a bikini appeared. While Elinor tried to respect the woman’s privacy, she did find her gaze wandering for brief moments until the woman spoke.

The Golett being a much better sport about it completely turned to the other side out of respect.

“That is a good point,” Elinor replied, a smirk on her lips. There was a joke there to be had, but it was too soon to be making such banter with a stranger.

Luckily, Porygon-Z had made sure that she would be wearing a Bikini underneath as well. Though she had thought it weird at first, now it made sense. Without further ado, and while doing her best to hide the mild blush that undressing in front of a stranger gave her, did she take off her clothes until a rather basic black bikini appeared.

The Golett was quick to take control of Elinor’s discarded clothing, neatly folding it and holding it in its hands as the stranger began her introduction.

Elinor tried to meet the woman’s eyes but found it pulled by some gravitational force towards the scar, no matter how much she fought it. Still, she fought valiantly, keeping her gaze somewhat on eye level. Jeez, is this how guys feel about cleavage? The thought zoomed through her head for the briefest of moments. Perhaps she was getting a bit too relaxed already. Anyhow, attention returned to the introduction. “It’s a pleasure to meet you two. I am Elinor – “ She gestured towards the Golett. “ – And this is Gol.” It tipped its Top hat in the direction of Trish and Mica.

Elinor realized quickly that she had to get used to the stares. It seemed this woman was unashamed by looking. Once she let go of the shame, it almost felt a bit empowering.

However, Elinor did notice the annoyed twitch of Trish’s lips when her eyes fell upon the scar. She would have to do her best to not grant it attention, though she knew that would be a struggle. She had some questions about it, for it seemed to be a rather peculiar scar.

Luckily the situation evolved no further. Trish decides to return her greeting with one of her own. Though Elinor noticed the hint of sweetness to its sound, was it perhaps flirtation? It was possible, but far too soon for such things.

“Yeah, that’s a good idea!” Elinor replied. She should’ve been the one to suggest it, she was the Ranger here, or perhaps this Trish person was a Ranger as well? She would have to ask later. But for now, she found her hand firmly caught in Trish’s as she followed the woman along to wherever she would take her.

Meanwhile, the Golett hurried along. Carrying Elinor’s bundled clothes as it frantically tried to keep the Top hat upon its head. Concerned Golett sounds escaped it as it requested for the two women to not walk so fast!

Elinor’s mind wandered as they walked. Firstly she pondered this girl’s profession. Callused hands suggested manual labor of some sort, which didn’t remove Ranger from the equation, though she couldn’t quite tell from the hand holding whether the calluses were of a similar pattern to the ones her own hands had begun to create.

The two trainers slowed down. Golett made some happy, amicable ghost noises in response. Pleased that he didn’t need to worry so much. His focus was on the girls rather than the dog behind him.

Elinor noticed the innuendo, the wink, and even the tongue. Had she not already been blushing, her cheeks would have been reddening. She wondered what Trish’s game was. Did she truly just want to flirt or was it a weird game of seeing how long it would take before Elinor succumbed and told her to stop? If the latter was the case, she would be sorely disappointed. While this might be a vacation for Elinor, the competitive streak of an Anderson never rested!

Trish moves the focus away once more, with a pointing gesture she turns their attention to the wildlife around them. Elinor’s Ranger gears turned in her head as her eyes fell upon the wildlife. The place was teeming with life, which meant water sources would surely not be far from here.

“I believe you are right.” Sure she could confirm it as a Ranger, but it seemed like Trish enjoyed being the lead right now. And Elinor would be lying if she claimed she wasn’t enjoying letting Trish take the wheels for a hot minute, and the view wasn’t too bad either.

“Water then Shelter. Sounds like a plan to me.” Elinor replied giving a few enthusiastic nods in the process.

Golett sighed. Perhaps allowing Elinor to unwind and let go had been a bad idea. He pondered this now as he watched how she so easily succumbed to the influence of this wild child. Would she perhaps be talked into doing things she might not be comfortable with? He would have to keep his guards up. Speaking of keeping guards up, where was that pup he saw before? He turned his head trying to see this ‘Mica’ that Trish had introduced earlier. Though he checked everywhere but behind him…

“Really?” Elinor questioned. She found that hard to believe. But didn’t press the subject further. It was almost a bit refreshing to let go of control for a moment and just let someone else deal with it. She knew well enough that returning from this meant she would have to take the reigns of something far more important once more.

But it didn’t go unnoticed that Trish found herself lost. Eyes so ready to lead suddenly began to search for signs of where to go until she, at last, asked the Rockruff for help.

Gol having been focused on other matters didn’t notice the Rockruff getting right next to him. It was only when the happy taunting bark entered what was presumably the auditory receptor that he became acutely aware of its presence. It almost jumped sideways in surprise, barely halting itself from falling to the ground as it tried to protect the bundled-up clothes.

Alas, neither monocle nor Top Hat was equally as lucky. Both fell to the ground. Golett began to frantically search for both. However, it didn’t take long for him to find them. With a sigh of relief did he place them back in their appointed spots, before returning his attention to the group.

At this point, they followed the Rockruff as it tried to lead them to water. Trish trying for some conversation. Trish kept up with what sounded like flirting, but Elinor realized it was making her less flustered now. Perhaps she was growing accustomed to it? “Yeah, you are right, though your presence is a plus.” She replied, figuring if the flirting wasn’t stopping then she might as well play along. Surely nobody would mind that, right?

“But actually it wasn’t my choice. One of my Pokémon thought I needed some time off from work. But I suppose that is what happens when you let a Porygon-Z have free access to the internet and more time than it knows what to do with.” She sighed in somewhat exaggerated defeat as she followed the Rockruff who surely wouldn’t be leading them astray.

Elinor chuckled slightly at the mention of TV, the chuckle settled back into her trademark smile. Though she watched woefully little of that particular show, she’d seen bits and pieces of it whenever Porygon-Z had chosen to see it.

Moving on. Elinor noticed the fluster spawned by her flirting back. It made her wonder, perhaps Trish wasn’t used to being the target of flirting. She could imagine why that might be the case. But it saddened her to think that people were so superficial.

Oh well, their game of chicken continued. Who would give in first? For now, it seemed they were both equal. Trish decided upon what seemed like a direct approach. Brave, considering how flustered she had just been.

Now that Elinor was coming to terms with the game. She would play along. “Oh, you want my number?” Her smile had a mischievous streak to it. “Sure you can have it. But only if I can have yours too.” And so she returned the question right back at Trish with the same flirtatious tone that it had been delivered with.

Though her gaze didn’t get to linger upon Trish for long. Mica’s barks pulled it away for a brief moment as they found a small River Bank. “Well done, Mica!” Elinor stated enthusiastically, remembering the name of the Rockruff from the introduction at the beginning. Though she allowed Trish to be the one to provide the canine Pokémon with all the belly rubs and pets that it might desire.

It seemed that Trish held an interest in getting to know Elinor better. Not that she minded, of course. “Oh, nothing too exciting. I am a humble League Official, and I do some Ranger work on the side.” Elinor said. She figured there was no need to divulge just how far up the corporate ladder she was. “What do you do for a living, when you aren’t out and about in the wilds like this?” She considered for a moment joining the girl in petting the Rockruff but decided against it.

Meanwhile, the Golett was busy checking the area for dangers, be they in the water or on Land.

Trish was vague in her job description. Elinor made a small mental note to ‘prod further’ when the time was right. But for now, Trish reminded them that number exchanges would have to wait until they had left this island.

Elinor nodded, noticing the change in Trish. Elinor’s worried confusion painted her face with broad strokes as she heard the woman crying out after the bite. Elinor hurried over to Trish. “Are you okay?” she asked worriedly. Though she doubted Mica had bit hard, it was still a bite.

The Golett found that the place seemed free of danger. The Golett turned its attention to the commotion for a brief moment. However, it saw that its trainer had everything under control and instead decided to work on the requested shelter.

It gathered sticks, huge leaves, and anything else that might prove useful in creating a shelter. He placed each object in a neat pile until he figured the piles were big enough.

Trish assured Elinor of her safety. Elinor breathed a sigh of relief. A relief smile rested on her lips in reply to Trish’s wholesome smile. “That’s good. You had me worried there.” She replied.

“Yes, shelter.” She turned to the two Pokémon which had been busy gathering materials. Elinor quickly began to look through the things they had found. There were huge leaves they could use as cover, and big branches they could use to make the walls off.

There was enough. And so, Elinor went to work. Knowingly or not, as she worked, her Ranger experience came to light. Gol helped as much as he could but was not as accustomed as his trainer was.
